So Darshan Chakra Kriya: Number One Meditation in Kundalini Yoga

So Darshan Chakra Kriya

May we cultivate the clarity and resolve to seize the day! Heres a meditation which is unparalleled. Its called So Darshan Chakra Kriya This was an ancient Brahmin purification technique. It was handed down from evolved cultures which predate history as we know it. There is anecdotal evidence that Jesus taught this meditation to Kashmiri yogis.

Each of us has a backlog of emotional and karmic debris which blocks our fulfillment and the fullest expression of our gifts. This meditation will amplify whats best in us and delete the painful patterns of the past.

A young disciple asked Buddha: How long will it take me to burn through all of my karma. Buddha said, Can you imagine a block of marble 1 mile square? Now imagine that once a year a dove flies over the top of the marble trailing a silk scarf. How long do you think it would take to wear that block of marble down to nothing? Thats what each of us is up against with regard to the load of karmic debt we carry.

So Darshan Chakra Kriya is like 100 workmen with electric sanders working day and night on that
metaphorical marble. So Darshan Chakra Kriya is the most important and powerful meditation in Kundalini Yoga. This meditation will very quickly and effectively help you clarify and resolve the core issues in your life and very directly begin to transform your life in ways in ways you may not even be able to imagine!

Sit with a straight spine. Your left hand is in gyan mudra (index finger and thumbtip meeting), resting on your left knee. Block your right nostril with your right thumb. Inhale through your left nostril. Hold your breath and mentally repeat the mantra Wha Hay Guru 16 times. With each Wha Hay Guru pump your navel, moving in three graduated movements towards your spine. On Wha pull it 1/3 in, on Hay pull it 2/3 in, and on Guru pull your navel in to the fullest extent you can. So, you are moving your navel 48 times in the course of repeating Wha Hay Guru mentally 16 times. After the 16th repetition of Wha Hay Guru, block your left nostril with your right little finger, lift your right thumb, and exhale through your right nostril. Then block your right nostril again and continue.

Your eyes in this one are 1/10th open, looking down and in towards the tip of your nose. Start with 11–31 minutes of practice. Over time you can work up to 62 minutes (or even 2 1/2 hrs.). Remember that it’s always inhale through your left nostril and exhale through your right, and you only pump your stomach with the breath held in.

To end this meditation inhale and stretch your arms up and shake your whole body to distribute the energy. Then meditate in silence for 1 minute, focusing at the brow with Long Light Breathing.

Yogi Bhajan said “Of all the 20 types of yoga, including Kundalini Yoga, this is the highest kriya. This meditation cuts through all darkness. It will give you a new start. It cuts through all barriers of accumulated neuroses. This kriya invokes the kundalini to give you the necessary vitality and intuition to combat the negative pressure of the subconscious mind.

If you do this meditation for 62 minutes and ultimately 2 1/2 hours it will give you Nao Niddhi Athara Siddhi, nine precious virtues and 18 types of intuitive gifts. The entire Universe is contained in these 27 facets. This purifies and perfects and will make you saintly, successful, and second to none.

Overall this meditation will stabilize your mind, bring out the inner talents you were born to use, and help you move beyond the patterns that create obstacles to your fulfillment and success.

Here is a poem written by the 15th century Poet/Saint Jaidev, describing his life and destiny changing experience with the meditation called So Darshan Chakra Kriya. This poem is included in the Siri Guru Granth which is the holy book of the Sikh tradition. Its very rare to see a technique described so explicitly in a sacred text. It was done in this instance as a homage to this meditation.

Inhale through the lunar nostril
Suspend it in the central channel of the spine
Repeat Wahe Guru sixteen times. Exhale through the solar nostril.

My incentive is Your Will. My gifts flow from Your Power.
My unstable mind has been stabilized.
My unadorned soul has been adorned.
I drink the Ambrosial Nectar.

The Name of the Infinite One, the source of all virtue, resounds in my mind.

The blindfold darkening my inner vision has been ripped away.
Now nothing can come between us. We are the same.

I worship the One who is worthy of worship.
I trust in the One who is worthy of being trusted.
As water merges in water, I merge in the Infinite.
