Mantra for the Dark Night of the Soul

In the Kundalini Yoga tradition one stage of our self growth is called Shaktipad. It is a kind of purification of the ego. Its also been called the "dark night of the soul." When one experiences the dissonance between the things in your life that don't work anymore and new ways of being. In this phase many people feel tempted to give up their spiritual practice altogether because they don't always see a light at the end of the tunnel. If ou have established a good discipline it carries you right through.

A great technique for getting through this state is So Darshan Chakra Kriya (see posting in this archive). Also the mantra:

Ardas Bayee
Amar Das Guru.
Amar Das Guru.
Ardas Bayee

Ram Das Guru
Ram Das Guru
Ram Das Guru
Suchee Sahee

You can chant this any way. It is good when you feel you have lost your sense of self, your direction, and purpose.
It means that the deepest prayers of your soul are already in the process of being answered before you have even formulated them. This is guaranteed by Guru Amar Das, who is the hope for the hopeless. And Guru Ram Das, bestower of blessings, past, present, and future, signed, sealed, and delivered. This mantra isn't calling on a person or personality, but aspects of the infinite which certain individuals happen to embody.

The stage after Shaktipad is called Sahej Pad, which means flow. Its not total enlightenment but you are so in rhythm with your environments and higher purpose that life is filled with ease and happiness. The next stage is Full Realization. It is nothing less than total bliss.
