Katie Muschlewski

Katie Muschlewski discovered Kundalini Yoga by accident. While attending UW--Madison, she took a mini course that combined Kundalini Yoga with African Dance, and fell in love with the rhythm of movement and breath. During pregnancy, she practiced Kundalini Yoga and meditations daily which helped prepare and empower her for childbirth. Her personal experiences with healing meditations inspired Katie to share the bounty of Kundalini Yoga with others. She completed teacher training in 2005 with Guru Anand Kaur, a student of Ravi Singh, and was given the name Kirti Kaur by Nirinjan Kaur of the 3HO Foundation. She attended several conferences with Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, Gary Kraftsow, and many other renowned teachers who continue to inspire her practice and teaching.

Katie founded Lotus Roots Kundalini Yoga in 2005 to share this technology of awareness with people of all ages and abilities. She is the creator of Yoga Sprouts! Child & Caregiver Yoga Adventures, and author of Yoga Sprouts, published in 2013. Katie also teaches prenatal yoga, and has experience working with a variety of groups. Katie brings a gentle and sincere approach to teaching that encourages each student to listen to their own breath and go at their own pace. She reminds us that it is yoga practice not yoga perfect! Katie lives in Madison, Wisconsin with her family. When she’s not doing yoga, she’s in the garden, writing, or getting crafty. Her motto is "One Planet, One People" advocating universal peace, respect and equality.
