Cold Hands and Feet

There are 3 approaches and 3 levels to the treatment of cold hands and feet. One would be the thyroid gland. Another would be developing the Navel Center. The 3rd approach would be opening up the area between the shoulder blades to allow circulation to the extremites.

Re: Thyroid: The \"Headache Helper\" set of our Yoga House Call DVD as well as the Throat Center segment on our Journey Through the Chakras DVD would be helpful for your thyroid. Sitali Pranayam would also be very beneficial for you: Inhale through a curled tongue and exhale through your nose. Keep the tongue extended the entire time. Think Ra Ma Da Sa Sa Say So Hung on the inhale and the exhale. Of course hiziki, and other forms of seaweed or kelp tablets would also be helpful.

Re: Navel Work: Any of the Navel exercises on any of our DVDs which you own (and of course our entire Navel Power DVD) would help build your Navel "fire." You will find some really good Navel Center exercises on all the new DVDs.

Re: Upper Back: The new Yoga for Beginners DVD has some very good exercises for opening your upper back: The chair exercises, the Posture Primer, Dolphin Pose, to name a few.

Camel warm-up exercise (and full Camel) is another great exercise for you. Sit on your heels and interlace your fingers behind your back. Inhale as you rise off your heels, stretching your arms away behind you. Lift your sternum to the ceiling as you arch your upper spine and look up. Exhale as you lower your sitting bones back to your heels. Open your eyes as you rise. Close them as you descend. Repeat until you feel your upper body warming up (about 6-8 times).

There is an extended bowing exercise called "Yoga Salutations" on Kundalini Yoga for Energy & Super Radiance that will be beneficial for both your upper back area and thyroid. Two of the segments of Kundalini Cardio Stretch & Strengthen have powerful exercises fro the Navel Center. Fat Free Yoga is great for work on the glands overall. Warrior Workout is good for circulation, Yoga Beauty Body has some great exercises for you especially Breath of Fire in Shoulderstand which is one of the best exercises for the thyroid gland.
