Cellulite

Cellulite is a condition that effects almost all women, regardless of age and weight. It can be vastly improved, and often eliminated, with diet and exercise. Kundalini Yoga is especially helpful in increasing circulation and for redistribution of fat in all areas of the body

We recommend the Cardio Dance segment of Kundalini Cardio Stretch & Strengthen DVD which was designed in part to address just this issue. Our Yoga Cleanse/Fat Free Yoga DVDs will be very helpful because the liver is complicit in the creation of cellulite. In fact, Yoga Bhajan recommended that women should jump-start the liver and promote circulation by swimming in a cold lake for 1/2 hour in the morning and 1/2 hour again in the evening to eliminate cellulite! There are of course, less drastic ways such as the ones we cited above. We also recommend our Warrior Workout and Ultimate Stretch Workout DVDs.

Increasing fresh organic fruits and vegetables, including as many raw foods as possible, will be helpful as well. We always tell people that eliminating dairy products as well as animal fats from ones diet is essential in eliminating cellulite.

Another very important element in dealing with cellulite is careful attention to alignment. I had a dance teacher who claimed she could help women banish cellulite through alignment alone, and I did see some amazing changes among the women in my class. One of our new DVDs (Yoga for Beginners & Beyond: Stretch, Strengthen & Be Stress Free) has a Posture Primer which will be helpful in feeling what constitutes good alignment.

This may sound simplistic but another piece of advice we always give people is to keep moving. Try not to sit for extended periods during the day. This promotes good circulation and energy flow. Massage is also helpful: dry brushing (followed ideally by a cold shower).
