Fasting
There are different schools of thought regarding fasting. Some experts feel that a liquid only fast should be accompanied by daily colonics. Others feel that colonics can actually perforate the colon and is thus risky.
One way to fast would be to go on a mono-diet which entails eating 1 cleansing food for a few days to a week. This puts you in de-tox mode but also keeps things moving through you so you can get rid of toxins.
Steamed daikon radish is a good mono-diet (for the liver). Remember how you come off a fast is as or more important than the fast itself: reintroduce other foods very very slowly. Take the amount of days you are on the mono diet to revert to your regular diet.
While doing a mono-diet is is okay to drink herb tea (no caffeine). Also, drink lots of pure water.
If you have not fasted before please do so under the supervision of a qualified holistic health practitioner.
As an accompaniment to your fast, we recommend a gentle Kundalini Yoga practice and daily meditaiton. We recommend the sitali pranayam breath for 22 min. per day.
